Many smokers struggle to quit and want help to stop. This research looks at the role that digital quit smoking support (website, app) could have in helping more smokers to succeed in giving up. The study focuses on: 1) the NHS’s SmokeFree website and 2) a newly developed quit smoking app. Volunteers were able to enrol in the study if they could answer yes to all the following questions:
• A current smoker (at least 7 cigarettes per week)
• Willing to make a quit attempt within 14 days of starting the study
• Have main use of an Android smartphone version 5.0 and above
• Aged 16 or above
• Live in England
• Haven’t previously taken part / signed up to this study
To thank volunteers for completing surveys and other research related activities voucher codes will be given out at several points during the study.
